How can I find a new home for used computer equipment and electricals?

I have various items I need to clear out of the house including a large 22" Mitsubishi CRT Monitor, a Toshiba DVD player and a Sharp HiFi. I've Gumtreed and Freecycled them with no responses. Should I take them to the council refuse site or are there

Give them to a homeless center, there not worth the hassle it would take to sell them.
