why are computers important in the photography industry?

i have a class (introduction to computers) and the teacher's hw for this week is to make a power point presentation about why computers are so important in this industry, and i chose photography... can someone give me some information about photography

Exactly what defines what makes film obsolete is up to opinion for the most part, but I think film is only a few years away form being obsolete. I think the day a consumer level digital SLR with a 16+ MP sensor the size of a 35mm frame hits the market
