I am McAfee subscriber and spent $40+ to their tech support to resolve following problem.
Upgraded Win98 to Win20000 on Compaq Presario 7360. Technician installed Norton AntiVirus without my authorization. I uninstalled and tried to download McAfee

Usually this is because for some reason the browser can't find the url you put in and it redirects you to the default search page.

Do two things:
Open IE, click on Tools, Internet Options. Then click on "Delete Temporary Files"
