TV computer connections ?

I asked a question a couple days ago..
This was the answer I recieved:

If it is an HDMI on both ends of the cable and on the computer, you need to set computer audio out to HDMI.

most sound cards have an option for digital output you can turn on/off.

i just have my tv and pc hooked up to my stereo.

the pc is hooked up via a mini rca to standard
