Is it dumb I mount my 24.6" monitor on this desk mount arm recomended for 10-23" monitors?

Although my monitor exceeds the recomended size, it is only 12 lbs and the website says the mount can hold up to 33lbs?

That's great that it fits. Most all mounts are based on two things; weight and vesa mounting holes. So the arm you have will support up to 33lbs and just so happens to also fit the bolt pattern on the back of your monitor. Bigger sized monitors and TV's
